5/4 - surgery day
Hi everyone. Layla's surgery is today at 12:30. She's been doing pretty well the past few days, and we are just so ready to get through today and watch her recover into a happier, more comfortable baby. We are so immensely grateful for all of the blessings we have had these past few months (and always) and for Layla's incredible strength as she overcomes these difficult challenges so early in life. Mostly we are just thankful for Layla herself. She is a precious little person with a big personality and a strong will. Her middle name, Rhys, means zest for life. We want her to experience all of it. Especially after such a rough start, we aspire for Layla to enjoy all of the beautiful, joyous parts of life. That middle name was derived from Layla's maternal grandfather, who would have absolutely adored her. We pray that on this day, Grandpa Richard is watching her and protecting her so that she may enjoy a long life exploring the world in all of its beauty. Even though there is so much darkness and hardship in this world, we've learned to see how beautiful it really is. There is so much good, plain and simple. We only wish for Layla to have the chance to see it all. She will practice immense gratitude for the happiness in this world, and her strength will guide her through the darkness. This mommy and daddy are not typically ones to ask for prayers, but today we humble ourselves and ask all of our kind, loving friends and family to say a special prayer for our beautiful baby. Our gratitude cannot be put into words. All of our love...
