- Layla is on the vent at a rate of 22 (meaning the machine is taking 22 breaths per minute for her) and her FiO2 has been staying around 30%.
- Layla's feedings started back today at 1/3 volume. These are going through the g-tube and will start with something called chimney feeds and then move to normal g-tube feeds. She'll likely be back to full feeds by the end of the week.
- Layla is healing well; her tummy incision looks good! They've been keeping her very comfy on a rotation of Ativan and Morphine.
- They're weaning her Sildenafil (aka Viagra) for pulmonary hypertension and her Hydrocortisone (steroids that help her lungs).
- Dr. Lim says the goal is to get Layla to a trach collar during the day and a low rate on the vent at night. A trach collar is like the equivalent of a high flow oxygen cannula, and the low rate would probably be about 10.
- No word on when we're going home yet (we still have a ways to go), but every little step helps.
Thank you for your prayers! They're working! Layla is doing exceptionally well.
Love,
Anna, Dan, and Layla
